La Crosse Jazz Orchestra Sends Holiday Cheer in New Video
12/22/20Just in time for the holidays, the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra has posted a new holiday-themed music video on its YouTube channel. The song is Jolly Ole St. Nick as arranged by Jeff Holmes.
"We have missed performing for you live this year and thought we would pass along some holiday cheer," says Greg Balfany, LJO director. "This is our second virtual recording for you to watch and share with your family and friends. We extend our thanks for your continued support. Wishing you a healthy, safe and happy holiday season."
As with the LJO's first virtual video Easy Money, each band member played their part on their own, with audio and video mixed together later. Musicians include Greg Balfany and Jeff Reitz on alto sax; Jeff Erickson and Mark Heinz on tenor sax; Harry Hindson on baritone sax; Scott Jensen, Brent Turney, Jon Ailabouni and Bix Swerman on trumpet; Mark Lakmann, Mark Glasel and George Von Arx on trombone; Tom Jensen on bass trombone; Chris Frye on piano; Paul Leithold on guitar; Karyn Quinn on bass; and Rich MacDonald on drums.
As a year dominated by the global COVID-19 pandemic comes to a close, LJO is getting ready roll out plans for its 2021 concert season.
"This past year, as you might understand, has been challenging for all non-profit art organizations," Balfany says. "If your situation allows please consider making a donation to the La Crosse Community Foundation LJO Fund."
